my husband works for  Ace Services in Anancoco louisiana. his boss sent him to Grand Chner louisiana around Cameron area to help clean up what Hurricane Rita left behind. This is just one of many of the pictures he and his co workers took of that area. Notice where Rita put that home . Its on side of the road .. This is really scary.

Our once beautiful park in DeRidder, Louisiana, lost many, many trees. An annual event, (Christmas in the Park) had to be cancelled because of the danger of putting in the holiday decorations. Visits with Santa, sleigh rides through the park, carolling, etc. will have to wait until next year.

One of the old buildings in the historic part of downtown DeRidder, LA. At one time, this building served as the local newspaper office. It had been closed up for years, but Rita opened it right up again. We call this one

Our family headed North, but just a few miles up the road to Fort Polk, where we weathered the storm with three other families, in an above-ground bunker type building. The building received no damage, but we still managed to lose electricity and for several days relied on flashlights and candles. Canned meat, cheese, beef jerky, peanut butter, water and crackers were the menu of the week.
