My family and I evacuated to Avoyelles Parish to stay with some relatives there. As the reality set in that we would not be able to return home very soon my parents decided to enroll my sister and I into the local schools. At the time I was a senior in high school, and going into this new school was like starting school all over again. However, the people of Avoyelles Parish really went out of their way to support those like ourselves that had been essentially stranded in their area, the local people got together to provide free uniforms and supplies to the displaced students and this was a big help to us all. One memory that will never escape me from my time in Avoyelles was when it was time for the Saints to play their first regular season game, which they won. I\'ll never forget it because that game brought so much relief to the stress put on to my family. To see our black and gold play on a sunday is something of a family tradition and to be able to participate in that little piece of home really made the times bearable. It was little things like this that inspired me to want to return home to the things like the Saints, that have built my life here in New Orleans
