I was at a friend\'s house when I first heard the news of Hurricane Katrina heading for New Orleans; I was 14 at the time. My mom picked me up to head home and pack my things to evacuate. My dad, his brothers, and his friends, decided they would stay home and ride out the storm. After begging him to evacuate with us, and he being stubborn and refusing to leave, we loaded up the car and headed to Houston. The day the hurricane hit we were constantly trying to keep in touch with my dad to make sure everything was okay, and luckily it was. We stayed in Houston for 2 weeks. Then my mom\'s high school friend offered for my family to live in her brand new house in Baton Rouge, while she would live with her ex-husband. We stayed at her house for about 2 weeks and then we were able to return home. My grandma\'s house was damaged by the flood, so she lived with us while her house was being fixed. She lived in my room and I shared a room with my older brother. She moved back home after a year or so and my life returned to normal. Some are not so fortunate and still deal with problems Hurricane Katrina has caused.\r\n
