My Katrina story is just like most people I know. I departed my house on August 28,2005 in my brother\'s car with a bag that contained three shirts, three pair of pants, a few undergarments, toothpaste, toothbrush, one comb, and a brush. I thought I was going to be evacuated for a few days. I did not need to take a lot with me. It will be here when I get back. I thought to myself; Oh boy indeed I was wrong! Before the storm I lived on Elysian Fields in Gentilly. When I saw all of the water that surrounded the bridge at the I610 onramp, I knew my house was destroyed. I sat back waiting patiently for the city officials to let me back in the city. To see what damages was done to my home. The ceiling was caved in upstairs, downstairs, and in the bathroom downstairs. All the windows were blown out and the house was shifted a bit. About eight feet of water was in the house. I moved back home to began the rebuilding process in December of 2005. Now I reside in New Orleans uptown.
