A stucco house with tall arched windows stands beside a dirt yard where a small green seedling grows near a handwritten "Garden of the Month" sign with a drawn flower.

We had come to New Orleans in December after Katrina to help my parents. We wanted to see places I had lived in. We were on Harrison Ave. before Canal Blvd. heading east when my friend hollered at me to stop. I stopped, backed up, and then cracked up when I saw the sign, "Garden of the Month" next to this wonderfully fresh plant. With this type of fortitude, how can we not come back.
