Multi-story brick apartment building with exposed roof framing and debris from storm damage, wrought-iron balcony railings, and a plywood-boarded fence under a clear blue sky.

This is the Chateau DiJon Apartments in Metairie on W. Esplanade N. This complex had been hit by a tornado 2 months earlier during tropical storm Cindy and it hadn't even been repaired from that yet! I stayed through that storm and it scared me to death. Who would have known almost 2 months later mother nature would try to finish the job? I evacuated to Lafayette, Lousiana and was hit by the 95 mile an hour fallout from Rita next !!! I am now back in the windy city (Chicago) where the only big wind is the politicians. Though I will miss the varied colorful public figures of New Orleans and Jefferson Parrishes ( don't worry I don't mean you Harry Lee, NOT )

Living in Lousiana was some of the most exciting and devasting times of my life and I wouldn't give up the experience I had for anything! Though being homeless, jobless, friendless almost and in a daze for 6 months surely does bite the big one, GOD (are you listening?)
