Closeup of Salvaged Photo

Close-up of a water-damaged photograph showing a smiling man with gray hair wearing a blue collared shirt, the print scarred by peeling, staining, and tears from flood exposure.

Collection

Helen Hill

Filmmaker Helen Hill took this photograph of a beloved family picture salvaged from the ruins of Mrs. Rose Broussard's home. The photo is of her husband Paul, who died several years earlier. Helen Hill assisted the Broussard family during their first visit to their flooded home. They had evacuated to Shreveport and did not examine the property until March 2, 2006. Helen Hill, whose own home was badly flooded, documented the damage at the Lakeview home and took photographs of the few family pictures that could be salvaged.
