This was shot on Poplar St. and the cross street was near Ocean. Again, seeing this much…

Storm-damaged trees with snapped trunks and bare branches stand near a brick ranch house, with debris piles, a yellow "Pot-O-Gold" portable toilet, and a parked camper trailer along the street.

Metairie and New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina - 10.23.05

This was shot on Poplar St. and the cross street was near Ocean. Again, seeing this much sky in this part of Metairie (actually Bucktown area) was unnatural. It was around here that Dad and I realized what else was wrong... There was hardly anyone around the area and there was no background noise from traffic, planes and most particularly from birds. As we went further into our tour of the neighborhoods, we came to more realizationss about many other things that are now not normal about these neighborhoods. One of the most startling realizations for us came not too far from here.
