Every house we passed, everywhere we went, had the hieroglyphic type markings left by…

Collection

Metairie and New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina - 10.23.05

Every house we passed, everywhere we went, had the hieroglyphic type markings left by rescuers who came from everywhere to help people here. The markings tell you many things. Pay attention to the markings in other photos throughout this photo gallery. The markings usually indicated the date searchers came by the house. NE usually meant "no entry" - meaning the search crew did not go into the house. You'll see other markings later on that tell other stories. Also pay attention too where some of these markings are on the houses.... More on that in later photos.
