I found this sign whilst traipsing through the French Quarter one day in 2009. I wish I…

A red octagonal stop sign with white border and lettering, spray-painted in black beneath "STOP" with the words "NA GIN NOW," mounted on a pole near a balcony with hanging plants.

I found this sign whilst traipsing through the French Quarter one day in 2009. I wish I knew how long this sign had been this way! I think it reflects public opinion of Nagin in post-Katrina New Orleans. He had been an embarrassment to this city not only in front of the entire country, in front of the entire world. We were all pulling for him immediately after the storm because he seemed so calm and collected. We thought he would be able to really help the city in its time of great need. Instead, he came out with his infamous "Chocolate City" comment and it was all down hill from there.
