These pictures were taken by a friend of mine who works for the telephone company soon…

Hand-painted plywood signs on a New Orleans storefront with defiant, humorous messages about staying through Katrina, guarding the home with "two shotguns and a claw hammer," cooking "dog gumbo," and a dated note (9/4/05) addressed to Carnival krewes.

These pictures were taken by a friend of mine who works for the telephone company soon after he was let back in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. They were taken on St. Charles Avenue. These hand painted signs represent the humor, resilience, and hope of all the citizens of New Orleans.
