This is my house after Hurricane Katrina where we lost everything. This was the event that…

Brick house with a cracked, mud-covered yard and patchy grass, debris scattered near the entrance, photographed through a vehicle window in the foreground.

This is my house after Hurricane Katrina where we lost everything. This was the event that changed my life and many others, forever. The water rose to 15 feet in our house and there was nothing to salvage. I can still hear the sound the mud made while we were walking through it. While there is much negative associated with Hurricane Katrina, there was more positive outcomes for me. If it was not for Katrina, I would have not met my fiancee and therefore my son. So for me Katrina was a devastation, but also a miracle. A blessing in disguise.
