West Jefferson Medical Center stayed open for the entire storm. This is one of the few hospitals that did stay open. Luckily this is my employer, and I came home within a week and went back to work. Unlike many of my other friends and family.\r\nRita affected where I live more than Katrina. I live in Marrero, but I am from Lafitte. Lafitte took on alot of water for Rita. My parents and some friends came to stay with us beacause of the flooding. We evacuated to Jonesboro, Louisiana for Katrina to a state park called Jimmie Davis. We expierienced the most kindness and generosity that I have ever seen. The Baptist churches fed us, Walmart came and brought supplies and games for the kids. It was amazing to see such charity from stangers. We still keep in touch with some friends we have made.
