My hurricane Katrina story isn\'t one to go down in the history books, but I still feel like it should be shared with others. My family and I evacuated to Brookhaven, Mississippi. We went to Brookhaven because both of my grandparents both grew up there and my grandfather still owns a large piece of property on the outside of town. Brookhaven is an extremely small town and its two biggest draws are a super Wal-Mart and a Cracker Barrel. Not really a teenagers idea of fun. Also for weeks I had no idea of weather or not my home had been destroyed, and on top of it we had 20 or so people crammed into a 5 bedroom, two bath house. after the storm we had no electricity and no hot water for close to a month. we had to resort to washing clothes in the bathtub just to get by. By the end of it all it was a blessing to go home even if everything was still shut down and it was a ghost town, simply for the fact that i could sleep alone in a bed and take a hot shower.
