Wednesday, September 21st, when I got home from school, my mom told me to start packing. I went in my room and grabbed everything that i wanted to bring w/me. We loaded everything up in the car. We got on the internet to check for any open hotels in Texas. They didn\'t. So we ask them where the closest one is and they say Tulsa, OK. So we buy they tickets and we\'re all excited and ready to go (me more than anyone..i\'ve never been out of Texas). So we\'re supposed to leave the house at 8 o\'clock wednesday night, but because my sister has two kids to et ready, (or at least that was her excuse) we ended up not leaving until midnight that night. About 7:30ish (30 minutes before we were supposed to leave) my aunt calls (my mom\'s long lost best friend) and we haven\'t heard from her in like 10 years, and she says \"something told me i should call. What are y\'all doing about the hurricane?\" mom told her and she says \"don\'t go to Tulsa, come up here, i\'ve got room\" and we\'re like..\"are you sure? theres 15 of us!\" and she said \"yeah, sure, come on.\"So we get back on the internet, and try to cancle our reservations, but you have to give them a 24 hour notice, oir you had to pay the first night of your reservation, but we got the 800 number and talked to some guyand explained everything, and he let it go and canceled it for us. We left w/four vehicles. About 8 miles down the road, from my house, my sister\'s car overheats, so we cram everything all her stuff into the 3 vehicles and we\'re off again. Three cars now. When we got to Lufkin, my grandmaw\'s car breaks down We were going to leave a note on her windshield, and our info of how we could be reachedand stick teh car on the inside of the fence where we had broke down. Some man comes out drinking and says,\"go ahead and pull\'er up in the carportso we\'re like wow! and we pull it on up there, gave him our info, he told my mom his name, and come to find out, they knew eachother. they had grown up together at the beach. Cramming the stuff from that car into teh other cars, we left again. Two cars left. We go to Mabank, where my aunt lives. I ended up enroling in school there. I was there for a whole 3 days. The peopel were ok. I had a teacher taht looked like Martha Stuart. My dad came home the monday after the hurricane hit, and checked everything out. My house was fine, but all the trees in my backyeard were down. My sister\'s house was messed up, her 3yr old\'s room had a hole in her roof, so their carpet was holding about 2ft of water. Everything touching the floor was ruined. none of my friends or family were hurt, so i\'m really greatful for that.
