When I heard on the news that hurricane Rita was coming into the Gulf of Mexico, I thought sence I had never experienced being in this kind of situation, that everything would be alright and it would just fade before hitting land. I was wrong. That week at school, everyone was talking about this mandatory evacuation and that we would have to leave that Thursday. Now I was really worried for my grandparents and my families sake. As soon as I came home that Wednesday afternoon, I noticed that my mom and dad were home early and they seemed to have known what was going on as well. They had the weather channel on and were just awestruck at what they were seeing. Everyone was lookng for their things to leave home for a while. Nobody knew how long they would have to stay away, so they packed almost everything they had, not knowing weather they would have a home still standing when they go back after the storm. My mom asked my little sister, my big brother, and I to take pictures of some of their most expensive devices in our rooms in case we lost our home. We live in a double wide trailer house and we wanted to make sure our things were insured. We even took pictures of the vehicles that we wouldn\'t need. My dad had a red and white Ford truck parked next to the left side of my house and my brothers Ford F150 truck parked at the end of the drive way. We took my moms red Ford Explorer, but now she has another car because the engine wasn\'t working right.
