Wind and water we survived,\r\n all through the night she howled.\r\nYet in the day as we looked about \r\n from St. Charles to Bourbon Street,\r\n we saw a city still unbowed.\r\n\r\nIt was not she who mauled our town,\r\n though her name is often spoke.\r\nIt was the failure of man that killed us,\r\n yes it was man, not nature that night\r\n The night the levees broke.\r\n\r\nBody\'s in the water,\r\n were the words of our demise.\r\nWe listened and watched in horror,\r\n as we struggled to survive.\r\n\r\nWe will rebuild\r\n is what our leaders say,\r\n but to the people who escaped;\r\nIts \"Bodies in the Water\",\r\n we remember from that day.\r\n \r\nWe weep in sadness,\r\n for all the people lost.\r\nAnd in our hearts we hope,\r\n it won\'t happen again no matter the cost.\r\n\r\nSo be kind to one another,\r\n and pray that someday,\r\n we will care and help each other.\r\n\r\nSo when a storm,\r\n is headed for your town,\r\n remember us and look around, \r\n \r\n\r\nDon,t LET it happen to your town,\r\n don\'t let it be the case,\r\n that you and yours may hear,\r\nBodies in the water,\r\n bodies in the water\r\n Bodies!
