I started my journey with a 1 month stay at a hotel in Boonesville, MS as an evacuee. The people in this town took such good care of us and the New Orleans Residents by providing free food and gas for our cars during our stay. My boyfriend and I wanted to start over since our jobs were affected from the storm, so we decided to move to Los Angeles. I moved away from my family and friends and had to start a new life. I feel much stronger and more independent even though I feel displaced at times.
