Hellicane: Poets Respond to Hurricane Katrina

A poem to let the grieving souls along the Louisiana and Mississippi coastlines as well as those who have sheltered in areas, such as Houston, Texas, that we are here for them through this disaster and we will be here for them for as long as it takes for their lives to return to as normal as possible, under the circumstances...\r\n\r\nEven when the worst is finished\r\nAnd the storm waters recede\r\nKindness shall not be diminished\r\nIn your time of greatest need\r\n\r\nFor we feel the weight you carry\r\nAnd the burdens you must bear\r\nKnowing that your spirit, wary\r\nNeeds the love of those who care\r\n\r\nIn the face of utter madness\r\nIs an everlasting light\r\nThat brings hope amid the sadness -\r\nCalmness to the fear and fright\r\n\r\nWe will be forever with you\r\nUntil every need is met\r\nFor the hardships you have gone through\r\nWe will not soon forget\r\n\r\nEven when the worst is finished\r\nAnd the toll has last been known\r\nKindness shall not be diminished\r\nAnd you\'ll never walk alone\r\n\r\nFor we\'ll be right there beside you\r\nIn our hearts and souls, indeed\r\nGiving all that we can accrue\r\nIn your time of greatest need\r\n
