Hellicane: Poets Respond to Hurricane Katrina

(This poem is dedicated to all the dogs from the Hurricane who were affected and their owners. You will always be in my thoughts...)\r\n\r\n\r\nWhen God had made the earth and sky, the flowers and the trees\r\nHe then made all the animals, the fish, the birds, and bees\r\n\r\nAnd when at last He\'d finished, not one was quite the same\r\nHe said, \"I\'ll walk this world of Mine and give each one a name.\"\r\n\r\nAnd so He traveled far and wide, and everywhere He went\r\nA little creature followed him, until its strength was spent\r\n\r\nWhen all were named upon the earth and in the sky and sea\r\nThe little creature said, \"Dear Lord, there\'s not one left for me.\"\r\n\r\nKindly, the Father said to him, \"I\'ve left you to the end.\r\nI\'ve turned my own name back to front and called you dog, My friend.\"\r\n\r\n-Author Unknown
