Although hurricane Katrina never affected me personally, it did affect some members of my family. I have a cousin who was born and raised in New Orleans; he decided to move up here to Virginia and work for the family company. Thing seemed to be going well up here until one day he dropped everything he was doing and decided to move back to New Orleans. This was probably about a month before the hurricane hit. It was odd because for a few weeks none of us actually knew where he was, and then a week after finding out his location, the hurricane hit. This worried us all; we had no way of knowing where he was or if he was safe. The phone lines were down and his cell phone was going straight to voicemail. To add to that, we really didn\'t know what part of the area he lived in. We finally found out he was safe about a week later. His father had made him leave the area about two days before the storm hit. When he finally came back to Virginia he was depressed. It was like the spirit in him had been completely crushed. The one thing that could have brought his spirits back up was football. But unfortunately their stadium had been badly destroyed causing the Saints to play in other teams\' stadium instead of their own. To make things worse, the Saints ended with a losing record of 3 and 13. But luckily for him and all of New Orleans, the Saints turned it around this past season. In fact they almost made it to the super bowl! It was truly something special to see the excitement and happiness in my cousin as his team was going through the playoffs. Even though the entire time he was making fun of my losing team, it was okay. And when my team didn\'t make the playoffs, I knew exactly which team I\'d be cheering for, and probably most of America would be cheering for.
