Hellicane: Poets Respond to Hurricane Katrina

Where were you when I had tears in my eyes\r\nNo one there to hear my pleading cries\r\n\r\nWhere were you after Katrina came\r\nWhen I was trapped on my roof in the pouring rain\r\n\r\nWhere were you when the levee broke\r\nAnd destroyed what was left for all our folks\r\n\r\nWhere were you when the sun went down\r\nAnd shots were fired all through the town\r\n\r\nYou finally came, one week late\r\nBut now Katrina has sealed our fate\r\n\r\nSome stayed behind by choice and others with no means or plan\r\nBut we will rebuild our lives as soon as we can\r\n\r\nNo one realized that it would be this bad\r\nAnd the sights and sounds have made the world sad\r\n\r\nWe are all pitching in with relief work to do\r\nBut we still need to know, Where were you?
