Hellicane: Poets Respond to Hurricane Katrina

Late August, 2005 a storm stirs up in the ocean blue\r\nIt happened so fast, nobody knew\r\n\r\nThe winds strong, and bold\r\nThe humidity no longer hot, but cold\r\n\r\nWaves as high as homes\r\nPeople were scarred, all bunched up in Domes\r\n\r\nWater flooding left to right\r\nSaviors chanting your ok just sit tight\r\n\r\nShe calls her self Katrina, striking fear in many\r\nEverything was gone, nothing left - not even a single penny\r\n\r\nSome had died and got their wings\r\nLeft this world as if their feet had springs\r\n\r\nChildren crying themselves to sleep\r\nThey have no Teddies to help count the sheep\r\n\r\nNew Orleans will never forget this - nobody will\r\nGod, we only ask that You take their empty cups, and fill\r\n\r\nWhat\'s that you ask?\r\n\r\nDo these people have food? Water? Nope\r\nAll we must keep is Hope\r\n
