Our family headed North, but just a few miles up the road to Fort Polk, where we weathered the storm with three other families, in an above-ground bunker type building. The building received no damage, but we still managed to lose electricity and for several days relied on flashlights and candles. Canned meat, cheese, beef jerky, peanut butter, water and crackers were the menu of the week.
