Fortunately, Hurricane Katrina did not affect me directly. I was still living in Lafayette, LA at the time of the tragedy. As I recall we did not get a drop of rain when the hurricane hit. Matter of fact it rained more from the thunderstorm that came through three days after. I did take a ride around through Slidell after because my sister and brother in law live there. I remember seeing the damage and destruction that had taken place. I was in complete aw as to how this could happen. The devastation that occurred was something that you see happening on television to other places and never thought that it would happen so close to home. It was completely shocking. The days that followed I use to work for a customer support call center and when I was asked where we are located and responded \"Louisiana,\" the customers on the other end would reply, \"Oh my God! Are you all (cause they don\'t use ya\'ll like we do) ok?\" After hearing this said to me often started making me feel like a victim even though I wasn\'t directly one. About four months after the hurricane, I moved to Slidell to begin my new career and I happy the things are rebuilding and making their way back.
