Almost two years after Katrina, I have a place to call home now. After evacuating from New Orleans East, we stayed in Houston. Later, we went to Shreveport, then to Bossier City, and finally here in Metairie. We\'re renting one side of a double house in a quiet neighborhood. My brother-in-law lives on the other side with his wife. My side has two bedrooms. One of them is twice the size of the other because it was converted from two rooms. Of course, that room is reserved for my two children to sleep in and fill up with their toys. They also have their own bathroom inside their room, which is really great. Whenever they need to use it, it\'s just a few steps away. My husband and I share the smaller room. Although our home is small and not in great condition, but it\'s affordable and okay for now until we can buy a house. We also have a nicely fenced backyard for the dog to run around. The laundry room is seperated from the house, which is a little bit inconvenience but quite energy saving in the summer time because the AC doesn\'t have to run all the time to keep the house cool when the dryer is on. My children often ride their bikes underneath the carport in front to stay safe and out of the sun. Over all, the house we live in now is not our dream house but it\'s just something we could call our own for now until I graduate and get a better job to take care of my family.
