Unhappy Anniversary
Today (August 29, 2007) is the two year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina hitting the Mississippi Gulf Coast.\n\nIn this photo, the Mississippi Wing Commander of the Civil Air Patrol, Col. John Wilkes, assesses the damage to a 1943(?) Stinson belonging to CAP member Andy Greenwood. This plane had been in a hangar behind his house in Diamondhead, Mississippi, but we found it caught in these trees about 50 yards away across the street in front of his house. \n\nThis photo has since been used in several national-level presentations by CAP command staff when discussing the CAP\'s Katrina relief efforts.
