Easier to buy teachers than test scores

This week the Recovery School District announced that it may initiate a pay-for-performance plan, which would reward teacher and staff bonuses for school-wide student achievement. It seems like a simple concept; reward teachers who can instill basic skills in students. New math may equate high achieving students with good teachers, but the inverse may also be true: low performing students may not necessarily equal bad teachers. Don\'t be fooled. The pay-for-performance move is as much about keeping the RSD teacher corps stable as it is about rewarding them.\r\n\r\n
