Robert, I\'m sorry, but this is what\'s left of your apartment.\n\nThere\'s an interesting sidebar to this story - Robert never came back to his apartment. These images are all he ever saw of his apartment he lived in for more than 30 years. He left the city the night before Katrina struck. He was able to get on one of the last planes to Houston, TX. Robert stayed in Houston and the Grandbury, TX following Katrina until he returned back to the city in November. Shortly after he returned, he was laid off from one of the universities where he worked. Robert spent the rest of his time back in Louisiana living in a hotel room paid by FEMA. He tried finding another place to live until he gave up looking for housing here. My wife and I took him out to lunch for the last time just a few days before he left the area for good and headed back to Texas on February 13, 2006. Robert\'s not coming back here.
