My Pre- and Post-Katrina\r\n\r\n I lived in a small house in Kenner, Louisiana for twenty-five years with my family. To better express how small the house was, it had one half and one full bathroom. The kitchen was so tight it only allowed one person to cook comfortably. The house had four small rooms with my room being the smallest. Then my parent separated my mother, my three sisters, and I moved to Laplace. The house in Laplace was the house we always dreamed of owning one day. It has a beautiful kitchen with burgundy wooden cabinets with black granite countertops. It also has high ceiling, three full bathrooms, five bedrooms, and a large front and back yard. \r\n My Father stayed in the old house, and when Hurricane Katrina hit on August 29, 2005 my fathers house was severely damaged. Luckily, we had evacuated to Baton Rouge in a friend\'s condominium where Katrina barely touched, so we were all safe, including my father. Our one year house in Laplace received no damage, but when we were allowed back into Kenner my fathers house was severely damaged. The house had been received one foot of water. I know this because you could see a line on the wall throughout the house where the water reached. My father furniture and things were all destroyed, but all was eventually throw out, and the house was completely remodeled. \r\n My mother once said that God always has a reason why He allows things to happen. Even though my parents did separated and then one year later Hurricane Katrina hit, I am grateful to God and felt His protection through it all. He not only gave us a new home, but brought us together as a family.
