When Katrina struck the Slidell, Louisiana area I was the Team Leader/Broker for Keller Williams Realty. Our office had 78 real estate agents at the time and 3 employees. My family evacuated to Birmingham, Alabama. Amazingly within 48 hours I was able to identify the whereabouts of 73 of the agents and employees and their needs.\r\n\r\nUntil this time I thought I was a macho kind of guy with 20 years U. S. Coast Guard experience. But when I could not locate the remaing agents and employees, I became an emotional basket case. I knew I cared for my crew but did not know just how much. \r\n\r\nThey were all eventually located and everyone was safe but for two weeks, I just did not know. Katrina took an emotional toll on me but not because of the damage but because of the heretofore unrecognized deep relationships I had with my crew.\r\n\r\nAnd now, August 29, 2008, we are on the verge of another big one. And so it goes . ..
