My family was very blessed during the \"Two Hurricanes\". We did not lose our house nor did we sustain any damage. The biggest impact that I have felt since the infamous \"Summer of \'05\" is the complete and total change of priorities in the disaster relief organizations. Since the hurricanes, I have gutted two houses, helped to insulate someone\'s kitchen, cleaned up countless yards, and painted the exterior of a historic house. I have been heavily involved with the TouchGlobal Hurricane Relief in Covington, and I have found many friends from around the world. I have volunteered over 250 hours, and I greatly encourage everyone to give a little bit of time. The stories I have heard from locals who suffered greatly are some that I will never forget. The culture and feel of New Orleans is completely different as a result of Katrina; the environment of western Louisiana is one of deep gratefulness and appreciation. To hear someone who has struggled to keep their home and their material treasures, open up and tell you what has happened to them, is amazing. The stories you hear are unforgettable.
