A day before the storm, I left Plaquemines Parish to head to Franklin, Tn. We have no family there, just a close relative who had close friends in the area. My mother, brother, my pet bird, and I took the trip while my step father stayed a little longer to put things high up on the shelves and to get the rest of my pets ready to go. He soon left for tylertown, Ms. It was 3 weeks before we could get in touch with him, not knowing what his conditions were. He told us that he was without power and eventually ran out of water while i was relaxing in a bed watching the disaster unfold on T.V. He eventually met up with us. Once he got there we immedietly went back in suspence. Our house had moderate damage with no fence and major roof damage. We took our belongings and headed for TN yet again not knowing if we would ever come back. I prayed everyday we would, the people just weren\'t the same. It was 3 1/2 months before we came back to Belle Chasse. It was nearly a year before everything got back in the swing of things and I pray no one has to go through it again...
