During Katrina, my mother and I stayed with my aunt in Bixby, Oklahoma. It was my senior year of high school, and I had to go to a new school that I had never heard of after only being in my school two weeks or so. The teachers were the most helpful of everyone. I had a pet rabbit at the time, and we couldn\'t take the cage because it took up too much space in the car. There was a teacher that was nice enough to offer me a cage to use for him. The students that were there did not care that I was a new student or that I didn\'t know anyone. None of them talked to me at all. I even had one girl tell me that she didn\'t know Louisiana was in the south. In other words, my Katrina experience was not very pleasant, and the only good part about it was that I was with family and we were safe.
