I was born and raised in New Orleans but was living in Los Angeles at the time of the storm. I never felt so far from home, so lonely. The scariest part was that my mom didn\'t have time to get anything out of our house, including out three dogs and one cat. I was so afraid of loosing them, I just knew they wouldn\'t have survived the storm and I was torn apart. But after we were allowed back in the city, my mother had discovered a man had been living in our house (we didn\'t get very much water) with his wife, daughter and dog and had been taking care of our animals and keeping the house safe all along. He can\'t imagine what he did for us and I am so blessed to have had this man there to take care of the most important things in my life, even though he had lost everything.
