my family was affected by wilma, which seems to have been forgotten or passed over by everyone maybe because the damage wasn\'t as dramatic or there wasn\'t that great racial component to play up.\r\nthe damage was intense actually one of the top monetary damage totals in recorded history. the wind were intense, and the only thing that saved south florida from greater damage was that fact that the storm traveled across the state at 24 mph, where katrina and rita traveled at about 6-10 mph. we were led to believe that the storm would reach naples, fl as a cat 2 and scale down to a cat 1 or less while crossing the state. \r\nthe storm reached as a cat 3 and maintained it strength all the way across the state. had the predictions been more accurate i think that more people would have evacuated. i know my wife went throught post tramatic stress after the storm and went into a deep depression that lasted almost 8 months. my life has changed greatly from the losses we incurred. we fell behind on our bills and mortgage and are about to loose our home to forclosure. it\'s all stuff, and we can replace stuff. maybe it will be tough and cause us some grief and stress but we are healthy and here and eventually we\'ll get more stuff.
