When people look back on Katrina, they always look at the effects it had on the people of New Orleans, but what about how it affected the animals throughout our city? My two dogs were greatly distressed after my family\'s 17 hour evacuation to Baton Rouge. A week or so into our stay there, my dog stopped eating, would become very sick, and most the time would just lay in one spot all day. He had been traumatized from the evacuation. One day he violently attacked my other dog which resulted in my parents deciding to drop him off at a local shelter in Baton Rouge. I cannot think about Katrina without thinking about my dog. My family was ripped from our home, but he was ripped from his family.
