We left New Orleans the day before Hurricane Katrina and headed to Houston, Texas. There were no hotels available so we drove further out to Rosenberg, TX. Our only option was to stay at a small motel that could accomodate our whole family. We were frustrated as we all piled in and shared rooms. Here we learned of the flooding in our city and our home. Not knowing where to go or what to do - we stayed put. Through this rough time, my greatest memory was while sitting outside the motel a family of five (mom, dad, and three children) drive their car into the motel parking lot and the dad got out and said \"hey are you guys from New Orleans? We have heard that New Orleans evacuees may be staying here.\" We replied that yes we had evacuated from New Orleans. He then said \"my family has some things for you.\" He and his wife and kids all began to unload the car with tons of groceries from Walmart....loaves of bread, gallons of water, milk, cereal, cookies, sandwich meat, diapers, wipes, socks....So much food and everyday neccessities. We were in shock, so grateful. It was too much stuff just for my family that we shared with other familes. The man said that his family didn\'t know how they could help, but they just wanted to do something. I will remember this forever!!
