While traveling from Rome, Italy to Dusseldorf, Germany, I learned of the devastation of Hurricane Katrina from the widely publicized photo of the Superdome. Upon arriving to Dusseldorf, I had hope to receive a new debt/bank card from my bank to replace the one I had lost two weeks prior. Unfortunately my friend had mailed it in New Orleans two days prior to Hurricane Katrina\'s landfall, leaving the card in limbo until well after my return home. Because of this, I went to the U.S. embassy in Dusseldorf in hopes of learning more of what was happening to loved ones and what could be done. With the news from New Orleans playing on a television, I was met with saddened faces. As I left with no new information of how or when I could go home, a guard at the front of the building handed me a twenty euro note. While confused, the guard explained that a man, whom overheard my story, wanted to help in some form.
