Thank God we didn\'t view any of the media coverage!\r\n\r\nMy wife & I our 2 kids and my mother & father in law rode out the storm in Metairie until september 5th we decided to evacuate to Florida in which we stayed at a vacation home without TV for the next several months. Our children enrolled in school there (Freeport,Florida).\r\n\r\n Getting back to the media thing we had listened to WWL radio the whole time in Metairie, listening to the people calling in.The stories of some I will never forget for the rest of my life. Garland Robinette was a \"SAINT\" he should be given some sort of a reward or something.\r\n\r\nDon\'t get me wrong,we had water in Metairie up to our knees even in the house but the stories of the people in NOLA were horrific. When we heard that they were shooting at police down there we figured it was time to hit the road. Metairie was just as bad with the looting.\r\n\r\n My number 1 memory of the whole thing was you could hear a cell phone ring a block away it was so quiet, hot steamy hot & humid you had to get drunk every night just to get some sleep it was miserable.\r\n\r\n AS far as riding out the storm my family has always stayed behind for the storms and even for the next one I\'ll ride it out. It something about helping each other out.
