I lived on the other side of the Atlantic when Katrina hit New Orleans. There was obviously a lot of news coverage. I remember that we had to write an essay about it in my high school English class, pretending to be a journalist traveling to the city after the Hurricane. Obviously, at that point I had no idea how tremendous the impact of the hurricane was. Coming here and learning about it has definitively taught me far more about Katrina, and in which ways the city has recovered and in which ways it has not yet recovered.
