When HURRICANE KATRINA was 36 hrs. away,my friends and i chose to leave and we have not gone back to ST.BERNARD PARISH,to live. We are still where we went when we came back to LA.after 3 weeks with my daughter and her friend in Jacksonville,Fla.I thank GOD everyday for her and her friend. We have went back to CHALMETTE,LA.of course and it was a ghost town then. We have a few friends that went back and are living in \'FEMA\' TRAILERS,but that is only temperory, and then where are they going to go? To me ST. BERNARD PARISH is still not inhabital as for living there. I am looking at a photo as i write this and wonder why people are puting themselves back in the line of danger!!We went to see our apt. that we lived in and it was just awful.I do see why people are going back there but it\'s too early!!!!!eVEN AFTER ALL OF THE DESTRUCTION has been cleaned up,there is the rent issues that have to be addressed. In METARIE.LA. Iknow some people who are paying $1,200.00 for a house which is not in very good shape, but they had to have a place to live. I think that it is just wrong for the landlords to charge that much for rent, especially after the HURRICANE DISASTER OF THE CENTURY!!!!!
