During Hurricane Katrina, my family and I evacuated to Bogalusa to stay with my relatives that I barely knew. In the early hours of the storm everyone gathered in the garage, looking out of the open garage door watching as nature would take down tree after tree. At first, it was truly a bonding experience, as the reality of the danger of the storm hadnt settled in our minds. Then, we watched a tree fall and crash into the roof of a house just 4 doors down. Then the reality sunk in. Feeling so vulnerable and helpless, we closed the garage door and prayed that our fate wouldnt be similar, and thankfully is wasn't.
