This is my husband's (at the time of the picture, my fiance) apartment about a month after Katrina, when he and his brother went back into the city to salvage anything they could from the apartment. My husband left so much of his belongings there because the previous hurricanes did not amount to anything. He lost so many personal documents and keepsakes among so many other items. I was not directly affect by the storm, but my husband and so many others lost so much by just grabbing essentials when evacuated because it was probably going to just be another easy storm and they would be back in a few days.
