This vase is no ordinary vase, for it has survived Hurricane Katrina. A great friend of mine and her family had to evacuate their home which was very close to where a levee broke. When they came back, their house was flooded with 8 feet of dirty water and not much could be salvaged. One thing that survived though was a wedding present given to the mother of my friend from her godmother, a vase. It was sitting on top a bunch of things, filled with the waters of Katrina, but otherwise completely unharmed. This fragile, quite breakable, vase that had already withstood 13 years, pulled through the storm. And it still stands today.
