A Baby\'s Cry Among the Ruin
Collection
Sometimes the world we live in is uncertain\r\nIn a moment what\'s known can slip away\r\nAnd we feel as we walk among the ruin\r\nOur hopes dwindle as we greet the coming day\r\n\r\nFaces full of tears, such pain and desperation\r\nYou can almost feel it blowing in the air\r\nClouds billowing, a cold and sad reminder\r\nOf what stood, but is no longer there\r\n\r\nHands outreaching to soothe the broken-hearted\r\nWe can\'t see beyond the tears for the lost souls\r\nTerror\'s wrath forever etched inside our hearts now\r\nWe question if we ever will feel whole\r\n\r\nAnd then I heard a baby\'s cry among the ruin\r\nAs I thought about that tiny, gentle life\r\nMy heart told me that we could not let this wee one\r\nGrow up in a world of terror, fear and strife\r\n\r\nSo we must gather \'round the waterfall of our tears\r\nAnd hold each other\'s hearts within our own\r\nThe children of tomorrow must feel safe here\r\nFor there still is no place dearer than our home\r\n\r\nIn this great country they will never walk alone\r\n\r\nWe will dig our way through acts of pure destruction\r\nEyes full of tears but heads held high with pride\r\nAnd though tomorrow seems like it will take forever\r\nThe sun will rise on this great country - freedom shines\r\n\r\nWhen I lay my weary head upon my pillow\r\nAnd pray to God to help us as we grieve\r\nI have to know within my heart that we\'ll recover\r\nIf I don\'t, what are the young ones to believe?\r\n\r\nAnd then I heard a baby\'s cry among the ruin\r\nAs I thought about that tiny, gentle life\r\nMy heart told me that we could not let this wee one\r\nGrow up in a world of terror, fear and strife\r\n\r\nSo we must gather \'round the waterfall of our tears\r\nAnd hold each other\'s hearts within our own.\r\nThe children of tomorrow must feel safe here\r\nFor there still is no place dearer than our home.\r\n\r\nIn this great country they will never walk alone
