My heart is deeply saddened\r\nAs I read poems from this site\r\nAnd listen to the news coverage\r\nOn the tv night after night\r\n\r\nThey all talk of New Orleans\r\nThe story\'s tragic this is true\r\n\r\nBut New Orleans was a victim\r\nNot of Katrina and her wrath\r\nBut of bad decisions in their state government\r\nWho did not put their levees as their Top Priority and task!!\r\n\r\nThe true victims of Katrina\r\nLie just to the northeast\r\nWhere the entire coastline of the Mississippi Gulf Coast\r\nHas been leveled and destroyed\r\n\r\nBeautiful Antebellum homes\r\nThriving businesses and elaborate casinos\r\nAre nothing but debris and slabs\r\nOr they\'ve floated up the beach\r\nAnd now call land their home\r\n\r\nLives shattered, loved ones killed\r\nDreams put on hold as they try to figure out\r\nHow will I feed my family, how will I pay the bills!!\r\n\r\nWe have no one here to help pay our bills for months on end\r\nNo one is giving us $2000 just to help get by\r\nIf we stayed to help rebuild our coast\r\nWe must depend on each other, family and friends!!\r\n\r\nOh but let us not forget, New Orleans evacuees have been given money freely\r\nSet up in housing to help them through\r\nWe here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast are told we can take out an SBA loan\r\nWhich will help keep us even more in debt\r\nAre you getting the picture of who the true victims are yet?\r\n\r\nOnly parts of New Orleans were flooded\r\nOur entire Mississippi Gulf Coast coastline is destroyed\r\nThe French Quarter is back up and running\r\nOur Beautiful Casinos are no more\r\n\r\nIt will take us years to rebuild\r\nEverything we all worked so hard to build\r\nOver the last 14 years!!\r\n\r\nWe were the ones hit by Katrina!!\r\nKatrina did not HIT New Orleans!!\r\nWaveland, Pass Christian, Long Beach, Gulfport\r\nBiloxi, Ocean Springs, Gautier and Pascagoula\r\nREMEMBER THESE NAMES OF OUR CITIES...\r\nREMEMBER THE LIVES LOST...\r\nREMEMBER THE HOMES DESTROYED...\r\nREMEMBER THE BUSINESSES RUINED...\r\n\r\nRemember that those of the Mississippi Gulf Coast\r\nWere the Victims of Hurricane Katrina!!\r\nAnd of the Media who put more emphasis on a levee\r\nThan the destruction of a Hurricane!!
