Hurricane Katrina hit when I was 16. I lived in an area with very little impact. Although I didn\'t lose my house or belongings Hurricane Katrina effected me in a different way. For me Katrina took away my childhood and innocence. I remember sitting in a condo in Galveston, Texas watching things I never thought I would see. I had never seen an actual dead body. I had never been able to relate to any horrible event before. I watched friends and family lose houses, jobs and schools. I felt helpless. I felt numb the whole time. I remember going home and hearing rumors of gangs coming into our neighborhood.
